About Us

We are four college students living in the world's greatest city, New York. In this city there are millions of faces, thousands of which we see every day. The vast majority of these people are only in our lives for seconds until they pass and are never seen again. Some of them are around long enough to share words with us. Others enter our lives and never leave. Remember Me, NYC pays homage to these people. It is a space to record and share the numerous little interactions we make with others every day in the city that never sleeps.

Throughout our journey blogging about people we meet in New York City, the four of us have gracefully transitioned into a new style of blogging. Instead of reporting on only people, we also elaborate on experiences we come across while living in this grand city that we call home.

Who We Are

Colin Hopkins

- I'm on on wheels most of the time. A kick scooter to be exact. For me, it's the best way to exist in this city. When you're on a scooter there are no rules. Literally, lawmakers have never considered scooters when telling us what we're allowed to do. I've seen every corner of Manhattan and a fair bit of the boroughs on my adventures, always kicking myself around. Experiencing new things excites me, so one of my favorite things to say is "how the hell did I get here?" My life is not all fun and games though . . . well actually it is. I'm a toy demonstrator. It's quite seriously my job to play a game called Myachi with kids all day in New York's biggest toy stores. I meet a lot of people this way, many of which I'll be blogging about. The rest of my time is spent studying Communications at Marymount Manhattan college and tracking down halal carts to curb my insatiable appetite. So that's me. Enjoy the blog!

Stephen MascallPeople are my favorite subject. Meeting them, watching them, stalking them. I'm at my happiest when I'm with someone I can talk to. As a communications major I not only enjoy it, but I study it. I thrive off of stories, whether they are mine or someone else's. I'm a kid at heart and through that I resonate strongly with Peter Pan. He's been my hero and inspiration my whole life for his happiness and youthful spirit. Alongside him, my other biggest inspiration is Beyonce for her hardwork, talent, humility, and fierce attitude. I aspire to be like these two every day. I have an excited personality and you'll seldom find me without a smile on my face. With my childish heart I proudly work at FAO Schwarz where I experience some of the most eccentric people (and children) you could ever ask for. From hobos to millionaires or celebrities to starving artists. There are so many different sides of me that I couldn't dream of fitting it on this page. I find that it is because of this versatility that I enjoy and am succesful conversing and identifying with people. I'm eager to put my skills to the test in conversing and reporting my findings with the variety of different types of people throughout the greatest city we call home.

Ambrina Khan
Hey, my name is Ambrina Khan and I moved to New York last year. I am originally from Staten Island and moved to New Jersey when I was 3. Ever since then my family would always take day trips to New York City, so I became very familiar with the city. It was about my sophomore year in high school when I made my decision to go to college in New York City. One of my biggest deciding factors was the people here and how diverse New York City is. In my home town everyone was relatively the same and I wanted to experience the "city life.' Ever since I moved here last year for freshman year I fell in love with this city.
Now I am in my second year at Marymount Manhattan College and I couldn't even imagine being somewhere else. Everything that I was looking and hoping for I found here. Everything that I need in life is here. I have my amazing friends, a job, and getting an education, but most importantly I am living in the greatest city in the world!

Natalie Pickett        Hi! My name is Natalie and I am an only child and a true, native New Yorker. A little about me; well, I was born in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and I stayed there until I was 10 years old, then I unfortunately had to move to Long Island. The reason I say "unfortunately" is because you cannot take someone from the boroughs and then move them to the suburbs- it does not work out. Although, I adjusted to living in Long Island until I graduated high school I still could not wait to move away from it and hopefully never go back. After graduation I decided to move to Staten Island with my father because it was more simple to go home when I when I started college. When it was time to decide to choose where I wanted to go to college I choose the city because it was the best way to get a head start on my future of being a public relations specialist. Also, I could not fathom going to school where the closest McDonalds was 20 minutes away.
Now I am here: a second year college in New York City, I work as a babysitter to three (awful) boys, I am an intern for a public relations firm, and my goal of summer 2013 is to be a Hooters girl! I have a great boyfriend who I am in love with and some great friends to make my life in NYC even more enjoyable. I have a very open mind and no filter on my mouth (people have claim I have an accent); so I tend to surprise a lot of people when I talk. I am not shy and say what I feel but I talk to everyone and anyone; so I am ready to do this!
